ABOUT OUR STAFF
John Thomas, ASLA, Principal
John Thomas has over 40 years of experience as a practicing landscape architect. He completed undergraduate work in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont and the Conway School of Landscape Design prior to receiving a Bachelors of Science in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. Before founding John Morgan Thomas Landscape Architects, John worked as a community planner for the Bucks County Planning Commission and as a landscape architect and associate at Carter van Dyke Associates in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
John brings a wide range of experience in both public and private practice, including historic and cultural landscapes, park and recreation plans, pedestrian and trail studies, and a variety of residential, institutional and commercial design projects. Since establishing his own firm, he has gained an understanding of the region’s ecology, landscape materials, and design vernacular. John enjoys specifying regionally appropriate plants and materials so the project will be sustainable and connected to its greater context and site history. Plants have always been a passion, and planting design continues to be a focus of his practice, along with collaboration with other design professionals and craftspeople. John serves as the lead designer on most projects, as well as functioning as the project manager for larger commissions.
